Changing Nameservers for a Fasthosts Domain Name

If you have you Domin Name registered through Fasthosts and wish to use it with your Web Hosting with us at Rediweb Hosting, you will need to change your nameservers. Don’t panic though it’s not that scary as we will guide you through the process. It is, however, a vital part of the Web Hosting structure as the nameservers are the link between your Domain Name and your Web Hosting, where all your website files live and are served to your visitors from.

To begin with, you will need to log into your control panel at Fasthosts, navigate to the ‘Domain Names’ tab and click on ‘My Domains’.

If you have multiple Domain Names registered with Fasthosts, they will appear in a list here, or you will simply see the single Domain Name you are looking for.

Place a tick on the checkbox at the side of the domain you wish to change the nameservers on.

At the bottom of the window you should see a ‘Perform Actions’ option.

Select ‘Update name servers’ from the list – And click ‘continue’.

You now have 3 options, and you need to select ‘Specify name servers’ to be able to add our nameservers to your domain name.

Changing The Fasthosts Nameservers

You can now enter our name servers into the fields.

  • For Name server 1 use: ns.mainnameserver.com
  • For Name server 2 use: ns2.mainnameserver.com

You need to enter both name servers as they appear here. Do not use any IP addresses or anything else.

When you are ready click on ‘Continue’ and you will be presented with a confirmation notice.
