How To Set Up Email On Your iPhone

iOS-Mail-IconWith this straight forward guide to setting up your email accounts on your iPhone, you’ll have your new emails with you wherever you are.

In this guide, we are setting up your iPhone Emails using IMAP. IMAP is the preferred method of receiving email on multiple devices, perhaps your desktop computer, laptop and mobile phone, as all mail is kept ‘in sync’. What that means is that if you read an email on your iPhone, it should automatically be marked as read on your desktop and other devices – providing you have also used the IMAP method on those devices. If you delete a message, it is deleted across the board. You get the picture so let’s get down to the setup process. This guide is based on email accounts created with Web Hosting from RediWebHosting. If you are using this guide to configure email accounts from other providers, you may need to use different settings available from within your own hosting control panels or on the support pages from your providers.

Adding Slideshows To Any Page Of An iWeb Site Is Easy

Exhibeo AppIf like many others, you have been frustrated with the limitations iWeb offered you when wanting to add image slideshows to your pages, fret no more. Whilst it has been possible to create fancy slideshows with products like Adobe, they have all created slideshows as a movie file, which then took ages to load in your page and required Flash or Quicktime to display it.

Once upon a time these were the only options available to you, but now we can use cool apps like Exhibeo to create slideshows and galleries that are produced using HTML5 and will show up on all modern browsers and mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad that will not show Flash content.

Redirect Non WWW Domain to WWW.Domain For Better SEO

Redirect Non WWW DomainDid you know that http://www.domain.com and http://domain.com are actually seen by the search engines as being two entirely different websites. Many website owners don’t realise this and think that ‘Hey, so long as my site loads that’s good – right?” Well of course it’s great that your site loads, but you are missing out on some good page credibility.

Let’s say that you have some people linking to your website with the www. before your domain name (www.domain.com in our example here). Now lets suggest that there is another group of people that are linking to your website as domain.com. Each of these 2 domains is getting some page ranking due to the incoming links, but if the ‘value’ of those links could be combined, a single domain would receive all that page rank love in one lump. So if the www. version had 30 incoming links and the non www version had 15 links, by assigning a preferred domain (canonical) you would see 45 links coming in to the domain of your choice.

Creating An Optimised Link For Your Website

Creating Optimised Hyper LinksI often have clients tell me that another website has offered to link to their site, or that they have agreed to share links with a website of someone they know and that’s great, or at least ii is if it is done correctly.

A link to your website could be anything from your company or organisations name, to your URL or even a mention within a body of text upon a page. Now each of these, with a hyperlink correctly applied, will navigate from the current page to your page when clicked, but the ‘value’ that the link brings with it will be very different. I am not going to get into the complexity of Page Rank and such at this stage, as we are concentrating on a well formed link in this article.

iWeb Hosting MobileMe AlternativeBack in June 2011, rumours began that Apple was going to drop support for hosting of sites built with iWeb as it moves away from MobileMe to iCloud. The good news is that we have built an iWeb Hosting Plan for iWeb users to make it very easy for you to move your iWeb site from MobileMe.

The other great feature is that it is also very simple for you to add your own domain name now, which allows you to create email addresses personalised for your domain. There are even more features included as standard with the iWeb Hosting Plan and you can read about all the iWeb Hosting Plan Features here.

An optimised web page is like A Bucket full of Goodness’

Optimised Web PageI have always been very ‘visual’ and love to express things as simply as possible – probably the side effect of being a dad and teacher – though my face to face descriptions often involve a lot of arm waving and hand gestures too. Having an Analogy is often a great way to engage people with your idea, so let’s see if this helps you to understand how to make your pages perform well for you!
